Task one
For this mini task we had to put ourselves into another image but make it so we blended in and so that it wasn't obvious that we are there. I chose a black and white photo of queen street station in 1972 and i put myself in the background so i was hardly noticeable. I edited the photo to black and white so it would match the other photo of queens street station.
I used the mechanical lasso tool to go round myself to cut it from the rest of the image.I then used the quick mass mode to see where needs to be rubbed out so the picture will look more realistic. I rubbed out all the out side of the picture. and he a dragged it to the other image and put in it place and made it small and look te right size.
Then i used this tool to change the colour of the back ground to red so it was easier for me to see what needed rubbing out. and then i draged the photo of me into the photo of kings road train station and then changed the size of the image so i blended is better and so it was harder to notace me.
I then used the blur tool to go round the outside of me so i looked like i was part of the image.

This is the final photo when it was finished. I think it turned out pretty well and looks pretty realistic. After is was done I saved it as a jpeg.

Homage to... Introduction.
For this assignment we have been given 6 weeks to complete this assignment. Its a follow on from Image Management Assignment. We have to produce one final outcome where re recreate a famous photo. Through out this assignment we will complete 3 mini tasks which will develop our photoshop skills. We have the option to work either in the studio or on location.
The aims for this assignment are...
· Understand how image manipulation techniques are used in the work of others
· Be able to digitise source materials
· Be able to originate work using image manipulation hardware and software
. Be able to present own design outcomes

Evaluation :)
I have been given 7 weeks to complete the image management assignment.
For this assignment I had to complete four mini tasks and a final fantasy landscape image and annotate all the work that I did and search 2 artist Seung Woo Back and John Goto.
For the first mini task I had to create a image with in a image using Photoshop.
Paulina took two photo's of me one me on a cannon 400D sitting next to a bill board and the other standing next to a wall. I uploaded the two images on to the mac and dragged them into Photoshop and then dragged them on top of each other and changed the opacity so I could see the billboard behind the other image so it would be easier to Photoshop I zoomed in and erased the unwanted pace around the bill board. I then changed the opacity back to normal and flattened the final image.
I am quite pleased with my task one final image as it was the first time I properly used Photoshop I think it turned out okay but if I did it again I would be more careful when I was erasing the unwanted space as I think it is quite messy and it makes it look unrealistic.
For my second mini task I had to add colour to a black and white image using Photoshop.
I took a photo of some cut out cake stars in and window because I thought they were really colourful and that they would work well doing this. I then uploaded the image to the mac and opened it up in Photoshop. First I made two layers and changed one of the layers to black and white using desaturate.
I then zoomed in and erased the area's I wanted the colour from the other layer to come through.
then I softened around the edges of the stars to it would blend it better.
I really like how this image turned out I think the colours are really bright and bold. I don't think I would do anything differently because I think the image I used was perfect for doing what I did.
For my third mini task I had to duplicate an image using Photoshop I took two pictures of Paulina standing with one of her arms out. First I dragged the two imaged into Photoshop and then used the magnetic lasso tool to go round one of the images of Paulina I then used the erase tool to get rid of the rest of the image around Paulina as I didn't want it in my image. I dragged the image I just cut from one image into the other image I took and lined it up so it looked like she was reaching out for the other image of her.I used the blur tool to go round the edges of the image so it looked more realistic.
I don really like how this image turned out because I think it looks really fake the the line up of the arms don't look right if I did it again I would use a different location and me more careful when erasing round the image.
For my forth task we had to make a colour painting using a photo that we took and paint.
I took a picture of Paulina and uploaded it to the macs. I then dragged the image to Photoshop and used the channel mixer to change the image to black and white. I then printed it off on a A4 piece of paper.
I then used paint and painted over the black and white image. I don't like how the image turned out I think it looks messy and like I rushed it. If I did it again I would use a bigger image so it would be easier for paint over and I would be more careful painting it.
For our final image we had to create a fantasy landscape using Photoshop.
I took three pictures using a Canon 400D. I took a photo of the market place, some grave stones and a old door. I then dragged the images into Photoshop and made them black and white using the adjustments icon. I used the magnetic lasso tool to go round the old door and then erased all the unwanted space around it using the erase tool and then dragged it into the image of the market place.
Then I did the same to the grave stones and dragged them into the background of the door. I didn't have enough images of grave stones so I just kept adding layers of the gravestones and then went round all the other images with the blur tool to make it look realistic.
I really like how this final image turned out I think it looks really scary and creative. I don't think I would do anything different.

Final fantasy landscape.
We were told make a fantasy landscape on photoshop so i went out into burton and took 3 photos one of the market place one of a old door and the other of some grave stones.
First i dragged the three images into photoshop and changed them into black and white because i think it would give it a better effect.
I then zoomed in so i could be more accurate.
i then selected the magnetic lasso tool and went round the edge of the old door until i got to the point that i started.
i then selected the erase tool I changed the size and opacity of the eraser.
and erased all the space around the door so it looked more realistic
i then dragged the door into the market image this made another layer.
i then did the same to the grave stones and dragged them into the market image.
i wanted to make more grave stones so i dragged layer 2 and three into the "create new layer" icon and made several more grave stones.

i then selected the blur tool and went round all the image i put into my picture so it blended in for and looked more realistic.
Final image.
I am quite happy how my final image turned out i think it is quite effective and is quite spooky and weird. If i did it again i would take more photo's of different grave stones so that there wasn't just two repeated over and over.

task 4 -Colour painting
Firstly we went out into burton i took a picture of paulina just outside the shopping center.
I then uploaded it to the mac and opened it into photoshop.
I then clicked adjustments and then channel mixer to change it to black and white.

I then messed around with the darkness/brightness of the black and white image.
The photo changed to black and white
I then saved it to my desk top and then printed it off as a a4 piece of paper.
i painted over the black and white picture using the paints rebecca gave us
and then we scanned it into the mac.
final image.

Seung Woo Back...
Seung woo back was born in 1973 in Daejon, Korea and now lives and works in Seoul Korea. In 2002 he studyed B.F.A photography in ChungAng university in Korea and then studdyed M.F.A in photography at the same university in 2002. In 2005 when he was 33 he
moved to london U.K and studdied M.F.A in fine art and theory, Middlesex University.
He is well known for his fantasy images that often are focused round well known landmarks around the world . His images look like he has been traveling round the world and has taken photographs of iconic and well known locations. but if you look again you notice that he has put two or more images together to create a new and unusual image.

In this image he has taken a picture of the pyramid and a bridge that looks like its in a town and combined them. I dont think this one looks as realistic as some of his other but i think it was a really good idea.
I really like this image, he has taken a picture of new york and the boats in china. i think this image is really well made and looks really realistic. this is one of my favorites of his.
In this image Seung has taken a picture of what looks like a park or memorial and added the leaning tower of pisa to it. i think it looks really good and effective.
